    The author’s writing style might not be to everyone’s liking. You can get a sense of this would be for you by reading other reviewers (both positive and negative).

    Sometimes authors simply don’t connect to readers and at a certain point readers just disconnect and even if the book is good, they can’t absorb the useful parts of the book.

    This book is more an entertainment type read in my opinion.

    If you’re looking for more practical advice on how to lose weight, especially from your belly and waistline, I suggest something like The 5-Second Flat Belly Secret – Lose 2-3 Inches from Your Belly in Less Than 1 Month I was able to sculpt a beautiful flat tummy in 5 weeks following that info.

    So get this book if you’re looking for entertainment (hit or miss depending on whether you’ll connect with the author’s personality). If you’re looking for more practical weight loss and body sculpting advice, find another book.

    As a 32-year-old guy (Jen’s husband), I am probably not in the target demographic for this charming little book. But I am so glad I picked it up! It was a great read. I scored it at the library for my wife since it looked like just the type of memoir she loves and I ended up being so enticed by the jacket that I had to jump in.
    5 things that rock about EnLIGHTened:
    1) It is inspiring precisely because it does not purport to give a get-thin-quick or find-fulfillment-quickly secret. With honesty, Jessica gives simple tips that will help folks move in the right direction.
    2) It offers a perfect introduction to basic yoga and the yogi mindset without making you feel like a dimwitted outsider.
    3) Jessica draws from a wealth of influences and resources and is careful not to present them as her own, but to offer examples of how the concepts played out with progressive success in her life.
    4) Its chock full of simple, engaging, highly-relatable writing. There is something in every chapter that will have you going: “hey, that is like me!”
    5) Jessica adds her own testimony to the growing case for reduced consumption of simple carbs and red meat as she describes her journey into vegetarianism.

    Best quote of the book (from a guru): “Undisturbed calmness of mind is attained by cultivating friendliness toward the happy, compassion for the unhappy, delight in the virtuous, and indifference toward the wicked.”

    Take 2 days and read this book!

    I read this on two flights in two days, and I couldn’t put it down. I think what is so inspiring is that Jessica’s journey has been SO REAL. She doesn’t sugar coat painful emotions, hard decisions, or make yoga seem easier than it is. I am committed to deepening my practice after reading her insights. Even if its JUST for the yummy recipes, this is a definite GO!
