Yoga For Women Who Are in Menopause

There are different types of yoga for women. There is weight loss yoga which focuses more on burning fat and keeping the body in shape while there are other forms of yoga for women that are designed to enhance the state of the body. Menopause for instance is a normal part of a woman’s life. However, it can also be very uncomfortable. Yoga can then help women in this area. 

But before I show you some yoga moves that can aid you in menopause, let us first discuss what the condition is. Menopause is a stage where the period of the woman permanently stops. This usually happens at the age of 40 to 60 and is accompanied by a lot of changes within the body. Not only will the woman see some physical changes, they will also feel some changes in their mood. This is because of the hormonal changes that happen within their body. Aside from this, there are also other effects like feeling hot all the time due to hot flashes and may experience changes in sexual desire due to the dryness of their vagina. While symptoms may vary from woman to woman, one or more of these symptoms are usually experienced by women who are undergoing menopause. 

Fortunately, doing yoga offers a holistic solution to the symptoms. Not only are women feeling less symptoms, their outlook in life is also positively affected because of yoga. Here are some yoga positions that you can try to help you cope with the symptoms of menopause. 

Pada Hastasana 

This is a basic position where you merely reach for the floor with your feet together. It is even called as the hands to feet position because of that. From here, you have to hold the position for a few minutes while paying attention to your breathing. This position is great for strengthening your spine and hamstrings. This can also trim the excess fat in the abdominal area which may contribute to some menopausal symptoms. This position pays special attention to the stomach and the legs. 

Bhujangasana 

This position is also called the cobra pose. This is done by lying on your stomach then raising your upper body using your arms. This works the abdominal area and promotes flexibility. With proper breathing, this can also increase your stamina and endurance. This is a great position especially if you are always feeling breathless or you easily feel tired. It is a great position for menopause for it is a position that is known to remove menopausal irregularities.

Standing Side Stretch 

Last but not the least, there is the standing side stretch pose. You can do this by putting your feet together then bending to your side with your arms above your head. You can accentuate the stretch by looking at your arms in the process. It will help you feel it more. The great thing with this stretch is that it also promotes flexibility. You will be amazed on how you can reach new places because you practice this stretch regularly. It can literally improve your body’s performance in anything that you do.
